How to Download TikTok Slideshows as Photos or MP4 (Full Resolution)

June 16, 2026

TikTok slideshows (sometimes called photo mode or image carousel posts) look like videos in your feed, but they are not. They are a sequence of still photos with a soundtrack and transitions baked in by the TikTok app. That difference matters: if you try to save one with a regular TikTok video downloader, you usually get a low-quality screen recording — or nothing at all.

This guide shows you the two right ways to save a TikTok slideshow with SnapTok: as individual full-resolution photos, or as a single MP4 that plays exactly like the original.

What is a TikTok slideshow?

A slideshow post is a TikTok upload made from 2-35 still images instead of a video file. TikTok stitches the photos together with music, captions, and auto-transitions when someone views the post. Behind the scenes, every slide is stored as a separate full-resolution JPEG — typically 1080 x 1920 or higher. A normal video downloader doesn't know to look for those JPEGs, which is why most tools fail or return a blurry result.

You can tell a TikTok post is a slideshow if you see:

  • Dots or a swipe indicator at the bottom of the post
  • The "Photo" badge in the corner
  • Manual swiping advances slides (a video would auto-play through)

Why a normal TikTok downloader doesn't work for slideshows

Most TikTok downloaders are built to grab the single MP4 file from a video post. When you paste a slideshow link they fall back to one of three bad outcomes:

  1. Error — the tool reports "no video found".
  2. Low-quality MP4 — a re-encoded preview, often 480p with a watermark.
  3. First image only — just the cover photo, not the full carousel.

SnapTok detects slideshow posts automatically and gives you the original JPEGs plus the option to stitch them into a clean MP4.

Method 1: Download every slide as a full-resolution photo

Use this when you want to keep the original quality, edit individual slides, or repost a single image.

  1. Open the slideshow on TikTok. In the app, tap Share and choose Copy Link. On the web, copy the URL straight from the address bar.
  2. Paste the link into SnapTok. Open snaptok.org and paste the URL into the box at the top of the page.
  3. Choose "Photos". SnapTok recognises the slideshow and shows every slide as a separate thumbnail.
  4. Download all images. Tap Download All to save the slides as a ZIP, or tap each thumbnail to save them individually. Files are saved as JPEG at the resolution the creator uploaded — usually 1080 x 1920 or higher.
  5. (Optional) Grab the audio. Use the MP3 button to save the slideshow's soundtrack as a separate file.

There is no watermark on the photos because they are the original JPEGs TikTok stores, not a screen recording.

Method 2: Save the slideshow as a single MP4 video

Use this when you want one shareable file that plays on any phone, in any messaging app, with the music and transitions intact.

  1. Copy the slideshow link from the TikTok app or website.
  2. Paste it into snaptok.org.
  3. Choose MP4 (or Video) from the format selector.
  4. Tap Download. SnapTok renders the slides, music, and transitions into a single MP4 you can play, send, or upload anywhere.

The MP4 is HD, has no SnapTok or TikTok watermark, and keeps the original audio.

Slideshow downloads on iPhone and Android

Both methods work in any mobile browser — Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. After the download:

  • iPhone (Safari): files land in Files > Downloads. Long-press a JPEG and choose Save to Photos to add it to your camera roll. For ZIPs, tap to unzip in the Files app first.
  • Android (Chrome): files land in your Downloads folder. Photos automatically appear in Google Photos within a few minutes; the MP4 plays from the notification or your Gallery app.

No app install, no signup, no permissions needed.

Troubleshooting common slideshow issues

"Link not supported" — make sure you copied the full URL. TikTok's Copy Link in the share sheet gives you the right format. Shortened vm.tiktok.com links also work.

Only the cover image downloads — refresh the page and try again. Older browser tabs sometimes cache an incomplete response.

Audio is missing from the MP4 — some slideshow soundtracks use licensed music that TikTok strips on download. Use Method 1 to get the photos and add your own audio in a video editor.

Images look low-resolution — confirm the creator actually uploaded HD images. If their source files were low-res, the slides on TikTok are low-res too.

Is it legal to download TikTok slideshows?

Downloading for personal viewing is generally fine in most regions. Reposting someone else's slideshow — especially as your own — can breach TikTok's terms and the creator's copyright. Always credit the original creator and ask permission before reusing photos commercially.
