Our mission
Short-form video has become the dominant medium of the 2020s, but the tools to save it lag behind. Most downloaders bury you in pop-ups, force apps onto your phone, or quietly re-encode videos into watermarked, low-bitrate MP4s. We started SnapTok in 2023 because we believed creators and viewers deserved a tool that simply returns the original file — no quality loss, no surveillance, no friction.
Three years and tens of millions of downloads later, our mission hasn't changed: keep SnapTok free, keep it fast, and keep it honest about what's possible (and what isn't) when you download social-media content.

Before SnapTok he led the video pipeline team at a Y Combinator-backed creator-tools startup, where he shipped a TikTok-to-MP4 system that processed 12M+ videos per month. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Universidad de los Andes and writes about video codecs, HLS muxing and CDN economics.

We publish how-to guides, comparison reviews and platform-policy explainers. Every piece follows a strict editorial process:
First-hand testing. Tutorials are written by someone who personally performed the download on iPhone, Android and desktop — never from a press release or a competitor's documentation.
Named authorship. Every article ships with an author byline, role, expertise tags and a publication date.
Sources and disclosure. We link to primary sources (TikTok's developer docs, Instagram's Help Center, EU DSA filings) and disclose any commercial relationship in the article header.
Dated updates. When a platform changes its API or watermark behavior, we update the article and surface the change in a "Last updated" stamp at the top of the page.
Corrections. If we get something wrong, email support@snaptok.org and we'll post a correction within 72 hours.
How we handle copyright
SnapTok is a tool, not a content host. We do not store, index or redistribute the videos you download — every request is processed and discarded. That said, the videos themselves are copyrighted by their original creators. Please only download content you have permission to use, your own content, or content covered by fair use / fair dealing in your jurisdiction.
Rights-holders can file a takedown via our DMCA policy. Our trust-and-safety lead reviews every request personally and we typically respond within 24 hours.
How SnapTok pays the bills
SnapTok is free for end users. We cover edge bandwidth, infrastructure and salaries through a small number of clearly-labelled display ads (served via Google AdSense) and affiliate relationships with creator-tool vendors we genuinely use. We never sell your data, and we never bid on personally-identifiable signals.
