How to Save Instagram Reels to Camera Roll on iPhone

June 11, 2026

Instagram lets you bookmark Reels, but if you want the actual MP4 file on your camera roll — to edit, repost, or just keep offline — you need an external downloader. Here's the cleanest way to do it on iPhone.

The 4-step method

  1. Open the Reel in the Instagram app.
  2. Tap the paper-airplane (Share) icon → Copy link.
  3. Open Safari and go to snaptok.org/reels-downloader.
  4. Paste the link and tap DownloadSave Video.

The file lands in your Photos app in the Recents album.

Why "Save Video" might not appear

If you only see "Download Linked File", that's because Safari doesn't recognize the MP4 as a video. Tap Download Linked File, then open the Files app → Downloads → tap the video → Share → Save Video.

Reels you can't download

  • Private accounts you don't follow — Instagram blocks public access to the media URL, so no downloader can reach it.
  • Geo-restricted Reels — same reason; the source URL returns an error.
  • Stories older than 24 hours — they're gone from Instagram's servers entirely.

What about Reels audio?

Pick the MP3 option in the SnapTok preview to grab the original audio track. Useful for matching a trending sound to your own clip.
